Privacy Policy

This site promotes two books on refactoring for .NET developers. It is read across Europe, the Americas and Asia, so we apply the standard set by the EU General Data Protection Regulation to everyone rather than varying our behaviour by country. Readers elsewhere may have equivalent rights under their own national law.
1. Who is responsible

2. What we process, and why

There is no contact form, account system or newsletter on this site, so we collect nothing you type. We do not process special category data, make no automated decisions about you, and do not sell your data.
3. Where our links take you
Buying a book sends you to Amazon, and sample chapter downloads are hosted on itdocs.net. Once you arrive, that destination's own privacy policy governs what happens, not ours. We never see your payment details.
4. How long data is kept
- Analytics and session recording: according to each provider's own retention settings, and in any case only until you withdraw consent.
- Your cookie choice: 6 months, after which we ask again.
- Server logs: as retained by our hosting provider.
5. Who data is shared with
- Cloudflare — hosting and delivery of this site.
- Google — analytics, only if you allow it.
- Microsoft — session recording via Clarity, only if you allow it.
6. International transfers
Cloudflare, Google and Microsoft process data on servers outside the European Economic Area, principally in the United States. Those transfers rely on the safeguards those providers offer, including the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses where applicable.
7. Your rights
- Access — to know what data is held about you and how it is used.
- Rectification — to correct data that is wrong or incomplete.
- Erasure — to have your data deleted where that applies.
- Restriction — to have processing limited while a question is resolved.
- Objection — to object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Portability — to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.
To exercise them, write to the address in section 1. This is free of charge and we will reply within one month. If you are unhappy with the response, readers in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom may complain to their local data protection supervisory authority.
